Planing on leaving your rental? Wondering what your obligations are regarding the work that will need to be done, particularly the repainting of your accommodation? Well worry no more- the following article will provide you with the information that all tenants should start thinking about during their rental. The Tenants’ Rights
Whenever you move into a new home, whether it be furnished or unfurnished, you may want to add a personal touch to the decor . Repainting the walls with your favourite colours immediately makes your new place feel a little more welcoming. If you chose to beautify the interior of your accommodation by changing the colour of your rooms, you are not under any obligation to repaint the walls to their original colour when you leave. Furthermore, as the tenant, you are not responsible for the normal wear and tear of paint. Even if the colour of the walls fades over time, you are not required to add a fresh coating before moving out.The Tenants’ Obligations
Nevertheless, there are certain circumstances in which the tenant is required to have some work done before their departure. For example, you’ll have to patch up all the holes in the walls and ceiling that you were responsible for. However, despite the difference in tone between your old paint and the coating used to fill the holes, you will not have to completely repaint the walls. Generally speaking, you only have to carry out work on all the resulting damage that you could do to your furnished home.
On the other hand, you will not be held responsible for the deterioration of your accommodation due to dilapidation. All the costs for maintenance and decoration, including paint, are the landlord’s responsibility.
